Rally Cycling climbed the podium twice on Saturday, as the men’s and women’s teams earned pro team time trial titles at the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Criterium & TTT National Championships in Greenville, S.C.
The men’s Rally Cycling Team of Jesse Anthony, Robert Britton, Adam de Vos, Evan Huffman, Danny Pate and Thomas Zirbel crossed the line with 37:47.50, topping Holowesko-Citadel Racing Team p/b Hincapie Racing’s 38:03.68 second-place effort and UnitedHealthcare’s 39:04.22 third-place result.
Tucson’s Travis McCabe (Holowesko-Citadel) aided in his team’s second place win, as did Mesa’s Danny Eaton for UnitedHealthcare.
Earlier in the day, the women’s Rally Cycling team of Heather Fischer, Jasmin Glaesser, Kirsti Lay, Katherine Maine, Jessica Prinner and Emma White took the pro title in 44:04.03.
Formerly Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies, Rally Cycling defended it’s 2015 title, finishing just four seconds ahead of UnitedHealthcare’s 44:08.43 result, while Visit Dallas DNA Pro Cycling, including efforts by Phoenix’s Anna Sanders, rounded out the podium in 46:16.17.
Competition moves to downtown Greenville on Sunday for criterium competition. Twelve amateur races will precede the pro championships, which will be live streamed on ultrasport.tv beginning around 2:15 p.m. EDT.
