Riders kicked it up South Mountain Saturday for the Highly Falkner South Mountain Time Trial in the annual battle for king and queen of the popular Phoenix climb.
Although no one could break Brandon McNulty’s (LUX Development Team) record of 17:55 set in 2014, riders still posted speedy times for the ride from the ‘Y’ to the TV towers.
Gerry Clapper (FASTER), in the masters 50-54 category, clocked the fastest time of the day with 19:19 for the men, and Anna Sanders (Visit Dallas p/b Noise4Good) blew the women away with 20:29.
Sanders still holds the women’s record of 20:18 from 2011. The closest female time to Sanders on Saturday was nearly two minutes off her time.
