MTBers take on Olympic bobsled track

Is this the holy grail of downhill courses?

Two students took to a bobsled track in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina for a wild ride on the abandoned, serpentine concrete chute

Bobsledders and lugers used the track for the 1984 Olympic Games and attracted more than 50,000 spectators; they also competed on it for the World Cup.

When war in Bosnia broke out in 1992, the track was damaged during the seige and was used as an artillery position by Bosnian Serb forces.

Today it remains intact but with defensive fighting holes drilled into one of the last turns of the course and graffiti on its walls. It’s being renovated for a comeback in 2017 for the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival.

Check out some amazing photos of the track and more back story from Yomadic.
