Venezuela’s Miguel Ubeto Aponte edged out Marcotte at the line after nearly four hours of racing.
“If you saw the photo finish, you know I’m gutted how close it was,” Marcotte, of Scottsdale, Ariz., wrote on his Facebook page. “But I gave myself and our country a shot at the win.”
