After a week’s worth of mostly rain, snow and cold temperatures, warm sunshine lit the pavement at the Sun Devil Crit on Arizona State University’s campus in Tempe, Ariz.
Riders took to the fast course around historic Gammage Auditorium as the ASU Cycling Team hosted collegiate, category and masters racing.
Johnny Corcoran (Bicycle Haus Racing) took his second win of the season as a Cat 1, out-sprinting Michael Hernandez (Aevolo) near the line in the Men’s Pro/1/2/3 race. Craig Streit (Stone House P&S Racing P/B Masi) came in third.
In the Women’s Pro 1/2/3 race, Michelle Howe (unattached) hammered in the last lap to get to the line ahead of the rest of the field. Howe won the Women’s Cat 3 general classification at Valley of the Sun the weekend before. Cara O’Neill (DEAN Factory Racing) took second, and Sarah Muench (SkyFlash Racing) came in third.
Cat 5
Sophia Larsen (unattached) won the Women’s Cat 4/5 race, while Samuel Elson (unattached) secured victory in the Men’s Cat 4/5 race.
