Suozzi wins elite Keirin bronze in track nationals finale

Dominic Suozzi (Big Picture Cycling) brought home a bronze medal Saturday night to cap off a week of success at USA Cycling Juniors and Elite Track Natonals in Carson, Calif.

The 18-year-old from Fountain Hills, Ariz. kicked it into high gear in his favorite race, the Keirin, a finale event for the national championships.

A Keirin involves a small field of riders led around the track by a motorcycle that paces them up to high speed then exits the track and lets the riders fend for themselves for three laps. The first rider to cross the line first wins.

Only soon-to-be-Olympian Matt Baranowski, who won gold and Nathan Koch, who won silver, topped Suozzi.
