Michael Dziedzic (Landis/Trek), Karl Baumgart (GPE Racing p/b Athlete Octane) and Stephen Pedone (unattached) posted the three fastest times Sunday at Arizona’s state championship time trial.
All won their respective categories.
Dziedzic’s 40k time of 53:53 out paced Baumgart by 43 seconds and Pedone by 46 seconds. Dziedzic had recently returned from Spain where he competed in the Red Hook Criterium, a fixed gear race.
“I didn’t really have any jet lag,” he said.
Northern Arizona University’s Amy Chandos took the win for the women’s Cat 1, racing unopposed with a time of 1:00:35. She averaged 24.52 mph.
