Riders took to Avondale’s flat course with a big sweeping turn to the finish on Sunday for the second crit of the Arizona road season.
Exciting victories were met by a few gnarly crashes, but as the first race with higher attendance, riders got a good look at their competition for the rest of the season.
Joshua Watts (ASU Cycling), a Cat 5 rider, went 2-0 on the season, beating his competition to the top of the podium twice in his first two crits ever.
“Glad I’ve been able to keep the bike right-side-up and have some success in my first two races,” Watts said. “Having a blast. Also, much thanks to my fellow ASU Cat 5s who helped set me up for a win today.”
