79th Tour of Somerville is Monday, May 27, 2024 in Downtown Somerville, New Jersey. It is America’s Longest Running Bike Race

1.1mi 4-turn flat criterium in downtown Somerville, New Jersey.

Family Fun Ride by the Somerville Recreation Department is from 8:00am to 8:30am. There is no riding on the course by Tour of Somerville racers at this time.

Grid Start. Long Tail Productions has used the grid start at events such as the Reading Radsport Festival and Electric City Classic. The Easton Twilight Criterium and Tour of Somerville will implement a starting grid for all fields. 

For Category 2 and 3, the top 10 returning riders are placed at the front of the grid. Places 11 to 100 are placed by registration time.

For Category 4 and Novice events, the top 10 returning riders are placed at the front of the grid. Places 11 to 75 are placed by registration time.

For Category Pro, 1, and 2, the top 10 returning riders are placed at the front of the grid. 11-18 are reserved for the Race Director’s Discretion. 19-100 are placed by registration time.

All day-of registrations, regardless of category or rank, are placed at the back of the grid.

Please arrive at Athlete Staging no less than 30 minutes prior to your race. Your grid placement is final and cannot be changed by race officials or event staff. Riders who miss athlete staging and/or their call-up on the grid will start at the back of the grid. 

Crowd Primes at Somerville. Crowd Primes are now part of general donations to the athlete primes. Special messages are reserved for advertisers who are supporting the race. These opportunities are available for anyone at very reasonable rates on our website under “Advertise.”

Number Pick Up is Monday starting at 8:00a. Number pick up for your race closes 30 minutes before your event race time. 

Timing Chips will be used to score riders in all races. If you currently own a Race Result timing chip, CRCA, Prospect Park, etc, please bring it with you and race with it. It will make the registration process much smoother, and you won’t have to return the chip after your race. For those who don’t own their own chip, we will have rental chips available at registration. These chips MUST be returned after your race, or you will be invoiced for the replacement cost of $100. 

Racing begins at 9:25 AM. The order of events is listed on the flyer, and all other races follow. Start times are approximate. Races will start upon completion of the preceding event.

Junior 15-18 race is only open to Category 1-4 riders.

Masters 55+ race is only open to Category 1-4 riders.

Masters 40+ race is only open to Category 1-4 riders.

Neutral Support will be 50m past the Start/Finish line adjacent to the stage. Philadelphia Service Course provides services with two mechanics. JUNIOR RIDERS will need to make sure they have wheels available with proper gearing.

Main Street Team Zone

A reserved team zone area will be approximately 100 meters before the finish line on Main St. These spaces will be available for $60 per 10×10 space. No cars will be allowed in the space. There is ample parking behind the team zone and on local side streets. Set up begins at 7a. No vehicle access is permitted on the course at any time, but you can temporarily park on Davenport Street to unload your tent.

Free team setup will be allowed at the Middle School on the back straight of the course. Absolutely NO team tents will be allowed along Main St. after the finish line in front of businesses. 

Rules: USA Cycling rules to govern. The free lap rule will exist. This is a 4-corner flat criterium.

All entries MUST present their current USAC/International license.

Awards Protocol: Top 3 from each race must report to the podium at the start/finish line immediately after their race for awards and media. The Pro Women podium will take place immediately following their race at the start/finish line. 

Prize payments: Riders may collect prize money, primes, and awards on the day of competition at the prize payout.

Prizes and awards (both cash and non-cash) not claimed within 60 days of the race will be voided and returned to the promoter. No exceptions. If a rider in contention for prizes or awards cannot be present to collect post-race, they are encouraged to leave contact information with the stage manager or race promoter AND EMAIL to follow up post-race to info@longtailproductions.com.

Entries: All fees include the USAC insurance surcharge and the New Jersey Bicycling Association surcharge.

Events with Waitlists will be automatically cleared at 12:01a on May 23rd. See our refund policy for deadlines. 

THERE WILL BE ONSITE REGISTRATION. Race-day registration will incur a $20.00 late fee in addition to your race entry. Any race that is not sold out will have registration beginning at 8am on Monday morning.
