Cyclocross series points standings updated

Updated series points standings for Arizona cyclocross arrived Tuesday, just ahead of the final regular season races on Saturday and Sunday in Tucson.

Standings show Kyle Reedy (Jetset Racing) with a commanding lead of 76 points over second-place Brandon McNulty (unattached), with 44.5 points in the men’s pro/open. A win at Saturday’s race, which offers 1.5 times the points, could send him into the series finale with a secured podium finish.

The women’s pro/open, however, provides a more interesting scenario: Kimberly Lucie (unattached) is holding onto a slimmer margin of 23 points over Taylor Shekell (unattached). If Shekell plays her cards right and Lucie doesn’t eat enough donuts, the tables could turn.

Both the junior men and women have tight races on their hands with McNulty having a slight lead over teammate Brenden Bengston. Daisy Ward (unattached) and Jordan Hunter (Two Wheel Jones Racing) currently are in a dead heat.

Two men in the single speed category are virtually tied; Joshua Johnston (unattached) has a three-point lead over Steve Gibbs (San Tan Racing). Men’s Masters 35+ could bring some excitement with Daniel Naef (US Military Cycling Team) having a 16.5-point lead over Riley Post (Jetset Racing) in second place.
